Barry Eagle, President/CEO, put a plan in place in 2006 to create an innovative hands-on management company with vision and a commitment to excellence in all facets of hotel operations and sales. Crown Hotel and Travel Management, LLC opened in 2008 with one goal in mind – to deliver financial results for hotel investors and give on-site assistance rarely seen from other management companies. His hospitality career spans over twenty years, working with brands such as Hilton, Marriott, IHG, Sheraton, Choice, Best Western and several independent hotels. His professionalism and integrity are well known in the industry, along with his leadership. For much of his career, he led the sales and marketing initiatives for distressed hotels where he gained the reputation for turning around a property’s financial performance.

In partnership with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, drone companies and traffic management companies, WakeMed is one of only two health care systems in the United States testing long-range medical package delivery using drones. WakeMed Innovations is a new department focused exclusively on connecting partners, employees and providers with the tools and resources needed to move creative, innovative ideas from conception to reality. WakeMed Innovations makes the connections to help bring innovative ideas and solutions to life.

Brian Anweiler - Athletic Director, Wake Tech (Panelist)

Brian Anweiler was named Wake Technical Community College’s second Athletic Director in September 2019. Prior to Wake Tech, Anweiler was at Northern Virginia Community College, in the greater Washington, DC area, as the College-wide Student Life Director. He was at NOVA from January 2009 to August 2019 after spending 17 years at Tallahassee Community College (TCC). He also served as an adjunct professor at George Mason University in the School or Recreation, Health, and Tourism teaching several courses including Economics & Finance in the Sport Industry, Sport Governance, and Managing Intercollegiate Athletics from 2012-19. Anweiler is a 1994 graduate of TCC. He earned his bachelor’s degree in media communication from Florida State University in 1997 and earned his master’s degree in Physical Education (Sport Administration) in 2000 from FSU.

HM Partners is a privately held commercial real estate investment and development company. The firm’s strategic focus is on high quality properties in the Raleigh/Durham North Carolina marketplace. For its own account and in strategic partnership with others, the firm acquires and develops infill office, multi-family, and street level retail space on strategic suburban and urban sites. Complicated urban mixed use projects are one of the firm’s specialties. The firm uses its own capital alongside debt and equity capital from high net worth individuals, family offices, and institutional investors and lenders to fund its projects. By bringing a values-based course of dealing to visionary market-based projects with exceptional execution, our projects create sustained value for our stakeholders who include investors, lenders, businesses, residents, team members, neighbors, citizens, communities, and cities. As a part of that endeavor, Stephen has taken over three decades of setbacks, failures, breakdowns, losses, successes, and comebacks and transparently uses them to provide simple-yet-effective step-by-step lessons to help anyone reclaim their hope and go from stuck to unstoppable.

Diana Rhyne - Executive Director, Research and Innovation, WakeMed (Panelist)

Healthcare and biotech professional experienced with leading teams in a hospital, private practice, and industry setting. Oversees internal Innovation activities to resource inventors, manage intellectual property, and to work closely with external commercialization partners. Facilitates the introduction of external innovations into the WakeMed system, and supports WakeMed's investment activities. Drives development and implementation of strategic vision, oversees department finances and budgeting, and ensures overall successful inpatient- and outpatient-based research and healthcare innovation operations. Operational oversight of clinical research activities, with experience from an industry perspective (protocol development, regulatory submission, and trial budget development) to a site perspective (overseeing IDE, IND, PMA, grant-funded, and investigator initiated projects).

Joe oversees the Economic Development activities for the Town of Garner and has been an integral part of bringing numerous large-scale successful projects to Garner including Amazon, Business Park 70, Hansae and many more.

Albert Alwang - Economic Development Manager, Wake County Econ Dev (Panelist)

As a key member of WCED’s business recruitment and expansion team, Albert Alwang coordinates all aspects of the business recruitment and expansion process and contributes to the overall BRE strategy. Prior to joining WCED, Albert served as an Economic Development Specialist at the Virginia Tech Office of Economic Development where he promoted economic growth throughout Virginia's communities and regions, by linking university resources and research with community organizations, non-profits, local government, and private businesses. His previous experience as a Research Assistant at Purdue University, the Center for Global Development, and International Center for Tropical Agriculture helped shape Albert’s career in Economic Development.

Lee serves as Chief Executive Officer of Triangle J COG, representing the region’s local governments and their regional interests in the North Carolina General Assembly. He works closely with member municipal and county managers to address the administration of local governments, and constantly seeks to secure local government revenue sources. As the Triangle continues to grow, Lee and his team collaborate with local boards to plan for transportation needs, growth management issues, environmental issues, regional aging service concerns, and a variety of regional planning interests.

Jon Keener is Managing Partner of Trustwell Property Group that is developing the Eastern Wake Innovation Park, which will be 300,000 square feet when completed. It will be built at the intersection of East Garner and Jones Sausage roads. Its location is just down the road from the coming Amazon fulfillment center and the White Oak Crossing shopping center, two of the town’s important economic centers. This is the largest office development in Garner's history.

Stephen Dorn is the Director of Land Planning and Entitlements for national residential developer, Lennar Corporation. Lennar will be building one of the largest residential developments in Garner history. Edge of Auburn will be built in 5 phases and will bring over 800 homes to Garner.
